MONUMENT

There was this book I read..

The Unfinished War: Vietnam and the American Conscience

by Walter H. Capps

at that time no monument to those who served had yet been created

so I came up with a series of paintings..

working title - monument..

originally I imagined two of these canvases..

side by side..

anyway..

as you will be aware..

there is now a superb monument..

The Vietnam Veterans Memorial is a 2-acre (8,093.71 m²) U.S. national memorial..
in Washington, D.C.
It honors service members of the U.S. armed forces who fought in the Vietnam War,
service members who died in service in Vietnam/South East Asia,
and those service members..
who were unaccounted for during the war.

my little idea..

was not in vain..

as it morphed into..

AMERICAN LANDSCAPE

so there became 10 canvases 69 x 96 inches

and many more images on card..

plus some smaller canvases..

work carried out over 30 years or so..
