I had this canvas..

painted orange..

 

and as you can see here..

orange looks good in the garden..

so green was coming to this dude..

and so it was that..

I got out the green..

and set to painting over all that orange..

hoping to know when to stop..

I mean..

you never know..

if something good will appear..

or not..

GLOBAL WARNING

I looked up..

and saw this Indian palace..

in the heat of the day..

after rain..

maybe..

I saw these people walking..

and the images of pollution..

shown on the telly..

somewhere in delhi..

some slum dog millionaires..

choking on poisoned airs

ANYWAY

I sat in my garden chair..

you know..

the one in the studio..

and looked at this painting..

and I could see dogs and cats..

and elephants..

and heat and dust and light..

at first I thought of..

the spring rains in africa..

the karoo..

and serengeti..

but no..

INDIAN GREEN

is what it is..

for now..

at least..

The Federal Reserve wants to kill your recession call.

Look, I understand, in the finance and economics world we are used to a crisis being about us. 

But, this time it isn’t about us, as least not directly. 

This was as pure a shock to the national and global economies as one could imagine. 

One little tiny thing – you can’t even see it! – blew it all up overnight.

Unlike the last two cycles, the shock did not originate in the financial sector and spill over into the real economy. 

It originated in the real economy and spilled over into the financial sector. 

Neither is built to accept this level of damage. 

Just like I can’t blame my iPhone for shattering if I drop it from the roof of a ten-story building, I can’t blame anyone for what is happening in the economy. 

The phone isn’t made for that, just as the economy isn’t made to not be put to work.

From a macroeconomic perspective, there is no moral imperative to assign blame. 

There is no moral imperative to root out bad actors. 

There is no moral imperative to “punish” someone in the pursuit of “creative destruction.” 

In this situation, there is simply no reason to think that the activities that of 150 million people – our friends and neighbors– were just six weeks ago seriously misaligned.

The only moral imperative is holding together the economy so that those 150 million can resume their lives as quickly as possible.

The only moral imperative is working to prevent another...

15 million people from losing their jobs.

OUR FAULT THEN

Renowned conservationist and activist Dr Jane Goodall..

is hoping the coronavirus pandemic will be a wake-up call..

warning the crisis is a result of human disregard..

for nature and animals.

 Dr Goodall said we should have known a pandemic-like coronavirus was coming..

because other viruses..

such as SARS and HIV..

also jumped the species barrier from animals..

Both SARS and COVID-19 are types of coronavirus 

and have been traced to live animal markets..

or wet markets..

in China.

But Dr Goodall said the loss of animal habitat..

and intensive farming are part of the problem..

making it easier for viruses to spread from one animal to another..

and then to humans.

"We have to learn to think differently about how we interact with the natural world,"

 she said..

"And one of the problem..

is that as more and more forests have disappeared,..

so animals themselves have come in closer contact with each other..

"Most of these viruses that jumped to us have come through an intermediary..

So there's a reservoir host..

like a bat and in [the case of COVID-19]..

it's thought to have jumped into a pangolin..

and then into us."

Dr Goodall equates the human disregard for nature..

as also the root cause of..

climate change.

Climate change: this is the worst scientific scandal of our generation

...A week after my colleague James Delingpole, on his Telegraph blog, coined the term "Climategate" to describe the scandal revealed by the leaked emails from the University of East Anglia's Climatic Research Unit, Google was showing that the word now appears across the internet more than nine million times. But in all these acres of electronic coverage, one hugely relevant point about these thousands of documents has largely been missed.

The reason why even the Guardian's George Monbiot has expressed total shock and dismay at the picture revealed by the documents is that their authors are not just any old bunch of academics. Their importance cannot be overestimated, What we are looking at here is the small group of scientists who have for years been more influential in driving the worldwide alarm over global warming than any others, not least through the role they play at the heart of the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)...

...The third shocking revelation of these documents is the ruthless way in which these academics have been determined to silence any expert questioning of the findings they have arrived at by such dubious methods – not just by refusing to disclose their basic data but by discrediting and freezing out any scientific journal which dares to publish their critics' work. It seems they are prepared to stop at nothing to stifle scientific debate in this way, not least by ensuring that no dissenting research should find its way into the pages of IPCC reports.

Back in 2006, when the eminent US statistician Professor Edward Wegman produced an expert report for the US Congress vindicating Steve McIntyre's demolition of the "hockey stick", he excoriated the way in which this same "tightly knit group" of academics seemed only too keen to collaborate with each other and to "peer review" each other's papers in order to dominate the findings of those IPCC reports on which much of the future of the US and world economy may hang. In light of the latest revelations, it now seems even more evident that these men have been failing to uphold those principles which lie at the heart of genuine scientific enquiry and debate. Already one respected US climate scientist, Dr Eduardo Zorita, has called for Dr Mann and Dr Jones to be barred from any further participation in the IPCC. Even our own George Monbiot, horrified at finding how he has been betrayed by the supposed experts he has been revering and citing for so long, has called for Dr Jones to step down as head of the CRU"...Christopher Booker
